Video Transfer & Digital Archiving
Convert aging videotapes and legacy media into digital files, USB drives, or discs before the originals deteriorate further. Nordex handles your media carefully and returns it in a format that is easier to store, share, and preserve.
Why Digitize Now?
Magnetic tape degrades silently. Most VHS tapes recorded in the 80s and 90s are already showing signs of deterioration – and once the signal is gone, it can't be recovered. The best time to transfer your media was ten years ago. The second best time is now.
VHS and VHS-C
The most common format we receive – and one of the most time-sensitive. VHS tape degrades with every passing year, especially in storage. If you have home recordings, family events, or archival footage on VHS, transferring now protects them permanently.
Hi8 and 8mm
A popular camcorder format for family memories from the late 80s through the 90s. The tape is thin and fragile – get it digitized before the signal fades.
MiniDV and DVCAM
A digital cassette format that holds up better than tape, but still requires playback hardware that's increasingly rare. Preserve it while the equipment still exists.
Betamax and Betacam
Older broadcast and consumer formats that need specialized playback equipment to transfer. We have it – many people can't find anyone else who does.
Audio cassette tape conversion
Convert spoken recordings, music, interviews, and archived cassette tapes into easy-to-use digital files. We can transfer audio cassettes to CD, MP3, or WAV so they are easier to store, share, and preserve.
Legacy audio and other formats
Reel-to-reel, audio cassettes, and other formats you can no longer play back on modern equipment. If it's old and you're not sure, just ask – we'll tell you if we can help.
Your Archive, Your Format
Once we've digitized your media, you decide how it comes back to you. We'll recommend the best option based on the content, the size, and how you plan to use or share it.
Digital Files
The most future-proof option for long-term preservation. Your footage as digital files you can store, share, edit, and back up across multiple locations – so you're never dependent on a single physical copy again.
USB or Hard Drive
A physical copy of your digital archive that you can hand to family members, store in a safe place, or use as a backup alongside cloud storage. Easy to share without technical setup.
DVD or Blu-ray
If you want a playable disc version – for family gatherings, memorial services, or distribution to people who aren't comfortable with digital files – we can output your transfer to disc.

Personal Memories or Institutional Archives?
We work with both individuals preserving family history and organizations digitizing larger collections. Either way, we'll scope it honestly and tell you what to expect.
We'll Be Honest About What We Find
Old media can surprise you. We won't proceed with anything until you know exactly what we're working with.
Decades of storage, temperature changes, and simple age affect magnetic tape and other legacy media in ways that aren't always visible from the outside. We inspect everything before we begin and communicate clearly if something needs a different approach.
- Every piece of media is reviewed before transfer begins
- We contact you immediately if we find damage, mold, or significant degradation
- We'll tell you honestly what's recoverable – and what the options are if it's not
Most VHS tapes have a lifespan of 10-25 years from recording. If your tapes are from the 80s or 90s, they may already be past that window. The sooner you digitize, the more you preserve.
Thank you so much for the outstanding service. You and your staff are greatly appreciated!
